yo what's going on guys John Santos and in today's video I'm going to talk about the importance of product descriptions and page SEO and how that helps convert random traffic into customers alright so make sure you stick around till the end of this video where we dive into some of those nuts and bolts and really get you guys understanding how important this really is alright let's get it in case you guys didn't know Shopify has different apps that you can plug in and then there's an app such as this one called describe from a creator that is a viewer of this channel so what I'm about to show you guys is the process of installing that app and how you can use that to increase your products descriptions SEO but I want to let you guys know that right after I briefly shown you guys that I will be showing you guys some of the things that goes into creating a product description so let's jump into the tutorial and show you guys how easy it is to set up that plugin and start writing descriptions if you're not a writer and you don't care about any of that do it but as you can see it's called a describe handmade product descriptions app and if you're on your dashboard then what you do is you go to the app section and then you hit this little area right here visit Shopify app store and then let's just look up describe what you do is you just get this so let's just install the app and let's take it through the process here so as a disclaimer says a but take about three days to deliver the descriptions now I was talking to him we're going back and forth they are real writers is this isn't something they outsource to like India or something where they don't speak English that was a big big thing for me is like when you start outsourcing jobs if they don't understand the language then it could be a little tricky so so let's just this is one of the products that we uploaded on the last Shopify tutorial so let's prepare a description here let's see how this works I'm doing it in real time with you guys alright so right here is going to be the word count so this is pretty much like how many words are gonna be in there I'm guessing the quality here is like how much train of thought they have to put into it so I would say better means give me the best stuff you can get select the quality of the key words so what we're gonna do is we're gonna put the basketball bag game bag so they limits you to three key words which in a product description is very hard to do more than that I mean you have to kind of keep it simple and then right here the instruction what you want to really emphasize of a heavy-duty polyester material what it did here is I gave them enough ammo to be able to deck describe the product so like the stuff that you're gonna really need driving the stitching it be about describing the color the fabric that the hats made out of or in the shirt the the you know like how it feels on you when you wear it and the more descriptive you are the better job that they're gonna do so let's see what this does and it's a car okay cool so then you enter in your card information and you are good to go so as we're waiting for Angelo nose team to write back a pirate description based on what I submitted I just want to go into four tips that go into the process of actually creating a product description and let me tell you guys something it does take some thinking and some thought and some time to sit down so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Angelo and his team can come up with based on the website and stuff that I sent him and you guys will see that as soon as that's done but I definitely want to jump into the four tips I feel that you guys definitely need to know and keep in mind if you decide not to use that app for you to be able to write your own product descriptions all right so let's jump right into that section the first thing that we really need to keep in mind is you need to really keep your customer in mind alright so for example let's head on over to a clothing brand a lot of the times for like apparel brands and stuff done a really SEO thing so they're necessarily not always a good example they just kind of describe what the product is in terms of what it's made out of but the reason for that is the fact that they're driving their own traffic so they're not necessarily looking into se owing anything you have a million followers on Instagram of course you're going to be able to drive your own traffic and you're selling people based on the features and the quality that you're putting on your descriptions all right so that can go either way guys just keep that in mind if you already got the millions of followers you don't have to worry about it but for everybody else you definitely got to keep that into account because let's do a different brand on called Blendtec is a badass blender and I actually got one for my wedding gift and this thing is so freakin badass so they're like five hundred dollar blenders or whatever and it was not blubbering on these guys as you could tell they were starting to know who their demographic is I mean it could be a variety of people it is a kitchen product some of the things that really made them go viral at first was the fact that this blender can like break stuff here the Galaxy Note 3 the iPhone 6 plus so with that in mind you can kind of tell they know that they know their target audience they know their customer it's gonna be people a little bit more influential because of the fact that they're able to afford a $500 blender so with that in mind let's head on over to their website so if we go on over to their blenders and we check out the $500 one dairy we're really descriptive in terms of what it does it's a blender that does everything but then over here they realize such a high ticket item is gonna require a good amount of details in terms of what it's what's under the hood all right so they wrote that there and they created different tabs and then they obviously have customer reviews this website and the descriptions that they created is definitely something that that isn't your typical clothing line description but what I'm trying to say here is that they realize what their customers are customers are people that really care and people that want to know what it is they're buying and before they spend something that's five hundred dollars so first thing you want to do is keep your customer in mind and what will motivate them so the second part is list out the features and benefits of your product that's gonna be something that you really want to make sure you do at a really big list of everything it does now if it's just a simple clothing or a hat and list out the fabrics of stuff that goes into actually creating those the process that you that it took list out everything because you're gonna want to condense it all right so we're gonna go we're gonna head on over to Under Armour as one of the shirts that I just clipped on to show you guys the details that they go into actually creating something like this especially when you create something that's different that's not your simple t-shirt there's a lot of different ways that you could describe it so the first part is obviously going to be your images and then what really sells you through is what you read what you write here we really pictured somebody B so this is where the first part comes in and then the second part is is in describing exactly what it is the features and benefits so they did fit it it's fitted next to skin without the squeeze us a thread borne fleece fabric construction than ultra-soft feel natural stretch and breathable performance you see how they made you almost like picture what was going on when you're wearing it right there that right there really good copy all right material wick sweat and dries really fast so they know that they're not talking to these engineers guys they know they're talking to people like you people like me people like athletes that didn't necessarily take English to the you know they didn't get a all A's on the English so they're making it really easy to understand all right front pouch popular right side internal foam pocket they tell me exactly what it is there but they tell it to you in a way that you get it that leads us into the third part is the voice the voice and how your brand sounds to people all right so it all is kind of commingled with the start of this when I told you guys to think about who your target audiences alright how they read stuff isn't going to necessarily be how the rest of the world read stuff so how how you know this person that's wearing under armor may not be the same customer that's buying this Blendtec blender you know this seems really technical right so these are people that are more in a technical field whereas somebody like Under Armour is more in a performance high school kids you know elementary middle school athletes you know and then they're not like the fear of gods or the other street where brands that are you know they just want to be cool and they're just gonna sell you some stuff so they're saying buy it you know like you want it you know but Under Armour multi-billion dollar company they realize they have to sell you on stuff alright so if you're ever in doubt with what a product description is try to find a brand that's similar to what it is that you're working on and see what voice they kind of had alright don't don't steal it from them but just know what direction you can go or hire somebody to write your product descriptions it's it's not it's definitely not the easiest thing to do on your own but once you start getting used to it you get a little bit better so it comes with practice alright and then last thing that you want to do is you want to make sure that you optimize your product descriptions for SEO all right so you want to make sure that people are finding it online if they're looking it up all right so for example on my youtube channel I really focused on how to start a clothing line it was that simple and I thought about it now I was like okay well if I were a customer what would I look for if I were somebody what would i look for you know and I managed to get this one out of start a clothing line and we're ranking really well so in the same way your products do need to have an SEO strategy all right so Under Armour did you a threat born fleece all right so they realized that the thread borne fleece was gonna be the product that they wanted to SEO all right so they did the thread borne fleece up at the actual title and then they introduced it again in the description and then they did right here again in the in the product features all right the thread borne fleece so they really SEO tit for thread born fleece all right and now what I mean is let's do a quick Google search to show you guys that Under Armour thread borne fleece they come up first making sure it's tagged everywhere it can go everybody's calling it the same name they're keeping it consistent all right I said but it's always a work in progress don't always beat yourself up do the best that you can and when you can't because you don't have the time definitely consider outsourcing some of this work for you guys so I got notification that the product description was ready and to review your product descriptions you click on the app and what it does is going to take it at this area here widgets product is ready to go and you're going to hit orders in this tab and then this is the description that came up with straps carabiner zipper holds any size basketball no more trying to carry a ball around with this amazing basketball care it is perfect for kids and children to school black stylish and convenient you cannot go wrong with the sturdy materials and quality design don't waste time and money on carrying bags that don't hold up like this one I think it's in the definitely in the right direction but we will you could accept or request a revision and in this case as you guys can see they're very open to revising as much as you need which is pretty cool so I'm gonna go ahead and just request a revision but if you like the description they gave you then you could accept it and move on awesome guys I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and more importantly learned how to create product descriptions and things that will help you find some traffic and convert some customers so if you guys are having some problems to need a good starting point or need a hand in that I definitely recommend you guys check out the describe app that's on Shopify Angela thanks again for reaching out I wanted to do this video with us to help these entrepreneurs really get to know the fundamentals of what it is that you do and like always guys make sure you leave your comments in the descriptions down below for the video topics that you'd
